I know who I got my love & compassion for animals from.......my Mom.  She is the woman you see who stops her car to help a turtle cross the road, & who will feel all 5 of our neighborhood cats, yes...5.  Ever since I was little we have always had pets.  Dogs, cats, hamsters, birds.  Honestly I cannot  remember a time in my life when we did not own a pet.  I know she is the coolest preschool teacher at work, with her frogs, hamster, & fish.  And in the last moth my she added a new member to the household.  A baby squirrel named, Irene.

My Mom found the squirrel, after Hurricane Irene passed through, thus the squirrels name, aren't we creative. Since then my Mom has been nursing the baby squirrel back to life.

Irene is getting bigger and bigger each day.  She graduated from a shoebox to a full fledge cage.  And now she is starting to eat apples, cheerios, & nuts.  Once she is big enough & weened from the milk we will let her go.  But for now, she is a fun addition to our crazy family!

Please excuse the crappiness of the pictures....where is my Cannon??

Want it. Need it. Have. To. Have. it!

Isn't this clutch absolutely genius! I love a great clutch almost as much as my iphone, and now I can have both all wrapped in sophisticated style by Michael Kors. It comes in an array of colors: red, black, gold, snake skin...and honestly isn't terribly expensive. The perfect birthday, Christmas, or anytime gift for a gal who loves her iphone & style! Coffee Girl

Wednesday, September 28, 2011

Oh, you don't know how true that is.....

Most mornings you will find me stumbling my way to the coffee pot, fumbling around with the filter, & spilling at least a few of those precious grounds on the counter. But after 5 minutes or so, I smell the heavenly aroma that brings this lady to life!

My husband is the culprit. He drinks A LOT of coffee, and coincidentally I followed his addictive ways. Steamed, frozen, over ice; I do not discriminate, I love my coffee anyway, anytime...
Nothing compares to that morning cup of joe, to wake up your senses & prepare you for your fantastic day ahead!

Caution: Fabulous Weekend Ahead!

Today officially marks the first day of Fall!  Although I have been craving anything pumpkin & prematurely wrapping up in sweaters for a month now, who cares if its 80 degrees outside!

I am not only ecstatic that Fall is finally here, I also get to spend the weekend my wonderful friends!  Our weekend is filled with a Bridal portrait session today (Lord willing, there is no rain) for my best friend Jessica. I am so honored & excited to be apart of her special day. Then watch out world, cause Saturday we are heading down to Wilmington for her bachelorette party! Shopping, dinner, drinks, & dancing the night away!

Empire State of Mind

Lately I have had this aching desire to travel to New York City. Sadly, I have never been to "the city that never sleeps", and I am just dying for a taste of city life. Especially in the Fall, New York seems like the perfect setting for a getaway.
When I head to the big city, I will try to see all the touristy things & places that make it  famous.  On my New York list: Central Park, Times Square, Statue of Liberty, & the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  You know me, so of course shopping is a must!  As well as see a play on Broadway, eat a NY slice of pizza, & wave hello to friends & family from the TODAY show out on the plaza!
I want to experience the hustle & bustle and night life of this amazing city. I want to ride in a New York Taxi, and walk blocks & blocks just to see what it feels like to be a New Yorker. All very cliche I know, but I am dying to have the quintessential New York experience...
Have you been to the city that never sleeps? And what are your favorite things to do there??

Wrapped up in Style

If you were to peer into my  closet, you may say to yourself, "this girl has waaay too many coats!" And I must admit, it is true. I am coat whore. I LOVE coats. Pea coats, Raincoats, Trench coats...a girl can never have to many coats! Here are a few I am lusting after for the cooler months ahead....

Aren't they beautiful! I want them all, how could I ever choose just one!?!
I love clothes, but if you look into my wardrobe you will know the one thing I cannot live without...

I am honestly concerned about her comfort!
What a crazy dog we have! I guess the saying is true, "its a dog's world".

Seasons of Hope

Friday, September 16, 2011

Waking up this morning in Virginia Beach with temps hovering around the mid 60's, I feel Fall has come overnight! These crisp mornings & cool breezes are exactly what I have been waiting for. You might think with all this "Fall" talk, that it is my favorite season, but in all honesty, I do not have a favorite. I simply love the changing from one season to the next. Watching the leaves change into the reds, yellows, & oranges, to seeing the new buds on flowers & hearing birds sweet songs, to cold mornings, snuggling up with loved ones, & hikes in the snow, to the great anticipation for lazy beach days spent basking in the sun.... The promise that with each new season brings changes & the hope of moving forward into the next chapter of life.
And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

Words to live by

"I believe in pink.
I believe laughing is the best calorie burner.
I believe in kissing, kissing a lot.
I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong.
I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls.
I believe that tomorrow is another day.
And I believe in miracles."

Last Nights Menu

Monday, September 12, 2011

With the beginning of football season & slightly cooler temperatures, I thought it was time to make the first Fall meal of the season! To me nothing says "Fall" more than a pot of chili. I like to make mine with lots of different seasonings & spices. A dollop of sour cream, a sprinkle of cheddar cheese, & a few jalapenos makes my bowl of chili complete.

I made fresh corn bread muffins, said by my husband, were "northern style".  Feeling adventurous I attempted a new recipe, Zucchini-Corn Fritters. I found the recipe in the September issue of Food Network Magazine.

They turned our great! And delicious! But seriously, have you ever had something fried that you did not love?!?  I very rarely fry anything, but I just had to try them, with the zucchini & corn they were semi-healthy...right??

What are some of your favorite fall dinners?

While spending time gazing through Pinterest (one of my new loves & slight obsession) I found some fantastic decorating ideas using something that is just thrown away, Wine Corks!
Pretty cool, huh?
I am super excited & will definitely be attempting if not one, but all of these ideas. Now I just have to start collecting all those corks....

There's nothing like a delicious homemade chocolate chip cookie. You can try new recipes or experiment with old ones, but there is something special about this classic cookie recipe.

What is your favorite cookie recipe??
