My obsession with Chipotle is seriously on the verge of embarrassing.  I confess that I eat there at least once a week and have actually gone through withdraws when out of town to a place that doesn't have one near by(simply blasphemous).   Their always fresh & amazingly delicious food is not only to die for (Ok, I know this is on the verge of dramatic, but I'm serious) but their "food with integrity" slogan is something this hormone altered, lab-grown, "fast food" culture, desperately needs.

"Food with integrity, is our commitment to finding the very best ingredients raised with respect for the animals, environment, & the farmers."   Head on over to their website to read more about their commitment to using the very best sustainably raised produce, family farmers, and their goal to use dairy & meat raised without the use of synthetic hormones or antibiotics.  You can also take a peek at their menu & find a location near you!

And if I was not obsessed enough, I saw this commercial a few weeks ago, and made me love Chipotle even more!
I actually shed a tear when I saw this, Chris thought I was nuts!  But seriously, Willie Nelson singing Coldplay, you don't get much better than that folks.

And sadly, if you haven't had the pleasure of eating at a Chipotle, I feel for you.  Please please please eat there if you get a chance, I promise it will not disappoint.

And for those inquiring minds....I order a burrito bowl or salad, with: pinto beans, brown rice(only with the bowl), chicken, sour cream, corn, HOT salsa, cheese, & lettuce.
My mouth is watering. What's for dinner!?!

The past couple of days here in Virginia Beach it has been unseasonably warm & gloriously sunny.  70 degrees in February, I'll take it!  So Lucy and I have been enjoying every moment we can outside.  There is simply nothing like sitting on your back patio enjoying the sun, reading the new Glamour magazine, and watching your funny dog dig a hole in your herb garden.  I can feel it, Spring is on its way.
I'm not sure what the rule is concerning the appropriate time to bring your white jeans out of hiding, but to me a sunny 70 degree day means that it is perfectly acceptable to wear them, along with a cute tank & flip flops.  And with our dryer out of commission, our clothesline has become quite handy.  Our backyard has seen a lot of color lately.  I'm thanking God for his sweet blessing of wonderful weather, now my towels can dry.   He always knows how to make me smile.  And how in the world could I get mad at that sweet pup, she had so much fun digging, rolling around, and eating grass; she is enjoying the weather just as much as I am.

Enjoy your Thursday my sweet friends!

I like to think I am a pretty fashionable little lady; romantic, classy, comfortable, and a little sophisticated is how I would describe my fashion sense.  I am also semi-daring when it comes to new trends, I will definitely try them out if within my comfort zone & applicable for my body type*.  But this neon trend that is popping up everywhere for Spring, is something I am not so sure about....
I mean seriously, last time I walked into target I wanted to put my sunglasses on to shade my eyes from all the iridescent neon brightness!  But gazing through Pinterest may change my mind.  Pinterest has a funny way of  making any trend seem awesome.  So although you probably won't find me sporting a neon green messenger bag or  yellow neon pumps this Spring, a neon pink bikini might be just enough to get me on board this funky trend.

Happy Tuesday!

*I am 5'1", so you won't see me sporting high-wasted jeans or skirts that sit below my knee, the idea is to look taller....

Feel better movies

Monday, February 20, 2012

Its pretty much inevitable when your husband has a nasty sickness, the sweet innocent wife will indefinitely end up getting it too.   That's the funny thing about marriage, you share almost everything, even germs.   So yes, this is day 5, I repeat, day 5 of me feeling pretty icky, but Chris is feeling better, thank goodness (notice the hint of sarcasm).  Our weekend was busy, and spending 4 hours out & about during a rainy/cold day yesterday was probably definitely not the best idea.   But today I declared that this would be my last sick day, and tomorrow I would wake up better, rested, & full of energy (here's hoping) because this little lady has a race to train for & a life to get back to!   So with cough drops in hand,  orange juice by my side, & a big bowl of the best homemade chex mix ever, I am undoubtedly on the road to recovery, whether this sickness likes it or not.

While cuddling on the couch today with my sweet Lucy girl, I watched two of my favorite movies,  You've Got Mail and Julie & Julia.   I mean who doesn't loveeeeee Meg Ryan & Tom Hanks.  Every scene is great, and even though I've seen it hundreds of times, I still love to watch them fall in love over & over again.  And Julie & Julia, combines two of my favorite things, food & blogging!!   Meryl Strep as Julia Child is simply priceless, and Amy Adams is the cutest blogger ever.  Both women "saved" by food.  If you haven't seen these movies, please do so,  the're great, and just what the doctor ordered for this feel better day.

 Happy Monday!

Secret Confessions & a Few Guilty Pleasures

Friday, February 17, 2012

Well, it's Friday!  What do you have on the agenda for this weekend?  We are making a quick trip down to Raleigh, NC on Saturday to pick up some furniture from Chris' Grandma.  She is moving to Texas (sad face) in the Spring and is giving us some of her beautiful furniture and paintings (happy face).  She is a wonderful artist and I feel so blessed to have some or her artwork in our home.  As for the rest of the weekend, it will probably be just like our last few:  lazy, fun, & delicious.  That's how we roll.

Here they are....

....I don't look at the "kids" aka baby page on Pinterest for a few different reasons (a) I'm not there yet  (b) I'm scared if I do start looking at everything sweet baby pink & blue, I will be there...

....I have almost consumed an entire box of thin mint Girl Scout cookies, by myself....

....We emptied out our garage of all* our moving boxes last night.  We moved into our house in July....

....I sorta kinda want a fancy schmancy blog with tons of followers, "buttons" and more.....

Guilty Pleasures:

....Young Adult reading genre: The Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Twilight. Truly nothing better....

....Kathie Lee & Hoda.  The wacky sassy wino's who take over the 4th hour of the today show. Who I simply cannot get enough of.

....The Fresh Market.  We've already exhausted this topic, but you know my love goes deep for this one.

....My "Pitbull" radio station on Pandora.  I become Latina on that treadmill.

Until next time....
Happy Friday!!

*Over 100 boxes. Not kidding. #hoarders

I am super duper excited for what I am about to tell you.  Now don't get too jealous, ok well you can be a little jealous.... Last week Chris & I officially booked our vacation!!  Where are we going you ask?  Well I'll give you a few hints:

Sun. Sand. Tequila. Bikinis. Queso. Margaritas.

Any ideas?!
If you were thinking Mexico, then you are right!!  We will be staying at an all inclusive, adults only, resort  in Playa del Carmen for 5 nights. That's not even the best part, we are going with some of our best friends! Jealous yet?  Five days of soaking up the sun, drinking margaritas, and eating chips & salsa until our tummy's hurt....Sorry, now I'm just being mean.  But seriously, we are so very excited to spend this time with our friends & travel to a new location, I am sure it will be a vacation we will never forget.  The only bad part, I have to wait 7 months until we go!   I guess it gives me plenty of time to work on my tropical vacation wardrobe....

So I leave you with a few lust worthy pics of our upcoming vacay.....

Is it September yet?

Sweet & Spicy

Roses. Enchilada soup. New couch. Cookie.
It was truly a wonderful Valentine's Day.

Valentine's Day Gifts

Tuesday, February 14, 2012

Hello my sweethearts!  I hope you are having a Happy Valentine's Day.  There has been lots of kisses, snuggling,  & sweet treat eating going on here today, and that's just between me & Lucy! ....when Chris gets home I'm sure he'll join in on the fun.  He has been a pretty great Valentine to have these past 9 years; some of his V-day gifts include: a diamond necklace, red roses, a GIANT* teddy bear, candies & chocolates, romantic dinners, a mountain getaway, and one year he even took me to see Confessions of a Shopaholic, now that's true love.

But my favorite Valentine's Day, gift giving story is from my parents.  On their first Valentine's together as a married couple my Dad gave my Mom a frying pan!  HA!  I love it, she on the other hand did not.  He says she had been wanting a new frying pan & thought is was the perfect time to get it for her, I guess it's the thought that counts.  I like to imagine my Mom throwing the frying pan into the air while she proclaims she "just wanted  flowers & chocolates!"  I doubt that's how it happened, but it makes for a funny visual.  To this day we still bring up the infamous frying pan V-day story, and we all get a good laugh, even Mom & Dad.

So I hope this Valentine's day your sweetie brings you home roses & chocolates, & not a frying pan.
Happy Valentine's Day!

*like bigger than me, I'm 5'1", and this bear was at least 5'5" No joke.

Kiss me

Thursday, February 9, 2012

You should be kissed often,
and by someone who knows how.
~Gone with the Wind

Over the next couple of days I bet there is going to be a lot of smooching going on.
Which is just fine with me!

Are you a lover of V day?  I sure am!  You might think its because I have had a wonderful valentine since I was 15, or because of all the pink & red, or all the sweet treats!  And although those are small parts, the real reason is because of my Mom.   On Valentine's day my Mom would make the entire day full of love!  Heart shaped pancakes for breakfast, small gifts of candy, chocolate, & stuffed animals before we went to school.  She would help us make homemade cards for friends and family (aren't homemade cards the best), have a chocolatey dessert for after dinner, but best of all she wold tell us that we were her special Valentine.  She showed me that this holiday is not all about having a significant other to share it with, but  a day to celebrate the love you have for the special people in your lives.  Oh, and to eat chocolate...

So if this holiday is slightly depressing to you, maybe you can try and celebrate the way my Mom taught us to.  By giving your heart & deeply loving your friends & family to the fullest.

Red weekend

Monday, February 6, 2012

Morning kittens!  How was your weekend?  Ours was lazy, productive, & fun all at the same time.  Oh, and how about that Superbowl, ie: excuse for eating chips, dips, wings, & chili like a pig.  Unlike most girls, I kinda like football, but as you know, college basketball is my thaaang; thus my favorite part about the superbowl is the fact that football season is officially over and we can move right along to March Madness! Go Duke!

Anywhoo, I know you're just dying to see our pics from the weekend.......
Friday night Chris & I went on a date to the the Yard House ( I really need him to start taking pics of what I wore, it was cute!). We had a great time laughing, talking and eating(and drinking...duhhh) delicious food.  That spicy tuna roll, was off the chain.
Saturday was lazy.  Breakfast for lunch, because we didn't wake up until ten!*  I made buiscits & gravy using this fabulous lady's recipe, which required a nap afterwards.  Hubby & pup are cuddle champs.  And seriously the rest of the day consisted of more eating, cuddling, & watching basketball, dog shows, & movies...
To combat our lazy Saturday, Sunday was a little busier.... I did some baking, red velvet cupcakes for the big game, and then we finally finished painting our media room.  Red paint sucks, just so you all know; but I think it looks rather awesome.  Then we were off to Superbowl parties!

Another wonderful weekend at the Stroud household.  Oh, and did you notice all the red in our weekend : red bull, red paint, strawberries, red velvet cupcakes.....kinda weird....

Happy Monday!

*waking up at 10 is crazy for us....we normally get up at 7:30, I guess that red bull didn't do its job....

Too much popcorn

Thursday, February 2, 2012

Hello my little groundhogs!  I hope your Thursday was simply delightful.  Speaking of that small weather forecaster, he saw his shadow, so we are now in store for 6 more weeks of Winter....oh, well whatevs.....

We received an early Valentine's Day gift today from my sweet Grandpa!
A tin from the Popcorn Factory!  Filled with cheese & caramel flavored popcorn!  Such a nice surprise waiting for me at the door when I got home today.  Although he shouldn't have, no really, he shouldn't have.   This is what I ate today, all day.  It's snack crack*.  I just can't put it down, and I think Lucy feels the same way.  I just hope there is some left for Chris when he gets home tonight. (I'm kidding, I won't eat all of it....hopefully)
I love that little face, but don't be fooled, she is pretty serious about her popcorn, I have to watch my fingers.
But seriously, if you have a minute go check out the Popcorn Factory, they have great snacks, gift baskets, & of course tins of popcorn, I have never gotten something from there that I didn't like love.

Thank you Grandpa for our tasty gift!   Enjoy your evening my sweets!  And smile, because tomorrow is Friday!!

*I borrowed this phrase from a friend of mine, she coined it, and deserves the credit!  She has an awesome blog, btw....go check it out!

Hello February

Wednesday, February 1, 2012

Hello my dears & happy February!  Can you believe the first month of 2012 is already gone?!  I sure can't!  I have always been pretty fond of this short but sweet month; Valentine's day, the Westminster dog show, & the Superbowl are all things I look forward to in February.  And yes it is still winter, but today was a delightful 70 degrees, which makes me eager to stick my toes in the sand & drink some iced tea.  But alas, depending on that crazy groundhog we may still be in store for 6 more weeks of winter.  I have mixed emotions about a lingering winter, I would love to play around in some snow and to wear my boots & scarves a little more, but I wouldn't complain if we move right into Spring & Summer, shorts & sunshine.

Enjoy your Wednesday loves!  What are you looking forward to most this February? & are you hoping that that little rodent sees his shadow? or not?
