celebrate the season || an enjoy list

Wednesday, December 2, 2015

I've been listening to Christmas music since mid-November but I promise I just brought the Santa mugs out this morning!  Already feeling a bit of holiday magic{and anxiety, hashtag-truth}, our neighborhood is starting to twinkle and the sight of cars toped with Christmas trees make my heart swell every single time.  Cliche' but ever so, it is the most wonderful time of the year.

Tis the season for traditions and excitement and calendars full.  Celebrating and savoring this favorite time of year is my hearts desire, with so much to do and fun to be had a list is certainly in order.
my holiday enjoy list -- 2015

+ Watch the Victoria Secret fashion show [12.8.15]
+ Drive on the boardwalk for the Holiday lights at the beach after a sushi dinner date
+ Go ice skating!
+ Christmas shopping and wrapping; enjoy but be ever-mindful along the way
+ Bake cookies and holiday sweets -- Give to friends and family
+ Christmas decorating, house and tree trimming

+ Try eggnog for the first time ever!? -maybe.
+ Sing along and savor the best music of the year-- hymns and carols and rockin around the Christmas tree
+ Drink coffee under the lights of the Christmas tree
+ Wear Christmas pajamas!!
+ Cabin weekend in the mountains for New Years! a mini-vacation celebration!
+ Visit family in NC for the holiday
+ String cranberries & popcorn for the tree
+ Watch Home Alone & Christmas Vacation and of course, A Muppet Christmas Carol
+ Get healthy doses of fireplace sitting whenever possible
+ Have a cozy and decadent Christmas day, just us three

Premises in creating this list include a)being present in each moment and experience of the season.  Not rushing through or checking things off but savoring each and every moment.  From sipping peppermint coffee{with Bailey's} to sweeping pine needles and wrapping those presents, I promise to relish in each moment, fully. and b)not look back on this list with disappointment if something does't happen or get done.  Traditions are wonderful and so are lists, but lets all give ourselves a break, especially this time of there year. The Christmas season will still be wonderful and special even if you don't kiss under the mistletoe or go ice skating. oh and the most important premise c) lets truly remember the reason we celebrate and have this joyful season at all.

23 days until Christmas!  Who's excited!?
What are some of your favorite traditions?  Holiday plans?
And eggnog -- yay or nay? I'm nervous.
