...for baking mishaps and kitchens covered in cocoa powder and peppermints...

...for watching Christmas Vacation a hundred times over, and still laughing through every scene...

...for crooning along with Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, and Michael Buble.

...for mailboxes full! Christmas cards and catalogs and bills galore...

...for the lump in my throat and tears in my eyes when listening to "marry did you know" or watching Prancer or gosh even some of these holiday commercials are intense too.

...for glitter and pine needles in all the wrong places

...for jingle bells and rocking around the Christmas tree and away in the manger and the first noel

...for ceremony and celebrating and traditions and decadence...

... for lazying under the tree or by the fireplace in christmas pajamas -- or on the porch in flip flops because its 70 degrees this December and I'm going to try and not complain...

...for cranberries and pomegranates and clementines -- the fruits of winter

... for joy and comfort and bright and calm nights

...for feeling unprepared or stressed or anxious and even maybe a tad grumpy.... solely to blame but ourselves and the imaginary perfection dreamt up in our heads....amiright?!

...for santa mugs and Christmas tree plates and creating ceremony out of the ordinary

...for time with family and friends who are like family -- making the most of now and precious time together and promising to have more of it next year

...for christmas cookies for dinner

...for looking ahead and fondly remember the behind; another year has passed, in a blink it seems, like always.

...for having hope and peace from promises given --  because "unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.  And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6
